Interactive Workshop Day: Thursday, 27 April 2017

IQPC’s workshops are unique opportunities to spend valuable time with industry experts. These interactive sessions are extended to ensure that you get to the heart of the conference’s most critical issues and uncover practical solutions you can apply in your own company. When designing our workshops, we create a balance between theory and practice in order to provide you with practical takeaways that can be adapted for your organisation. In addition, there is an opportunity for you to network with peers from similar organisations to build your network for future career opportunities and broaden your industry perspective and exposure.

Hydrodynamic modelling and coastal processes in the Middle East

Overview:
Hydrodynamic modelling and coastal processes is an essential step in ensuring a realistic and successful design and construction of marine and
coastal projects. It is also a necessary tool in the permitting process and must be completed before obtaining regulatory approval. Hydrodynamic modelling draws a detailed picture of all and any consequences on the built and natural environment arising from the installation of any coastal project and in this workshop you will benefit from learning from local experience and case studies that address local needs and challenges

Topics to be explored include:
  • Near-shore wind and wave transformation processes that can often be complex to model and capture
  • Sediment transport, erosion and accretion studies that will help in determining the durability of the projects and solutions requires
  • Sources of hydrodynamic models to explore which is best in evaluating the effects of structures on tidal flushing, currents and resistance during storm surges

This workshop is dedicated to knowledge-building and sharing. Delivered as an exclusive interactive platform with skills development and capacity building activities, this workshop will equip you with the expertise to find and apply the appropriate solutions to your unique challenges. It has been designed to specifically address your needs and unique challenges as marine and coastal experts.
